Medellín, Colombia and New York, NY – May 18, 2018 – Ruta N, the center of business and innovation of Medellín and IRPA AI (The Institute for Robotic Process Automation and Artificial Intelligence) today announced the official opening of the Digital Americas Pipeline Initiative (DAPI). Connecting the North and South American marketplaces through Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) talent hubs in New York and Medellín, Colombia, DAPI provides companies with direct access to trained, experienced and certified RPA and AI professionals on demand and at scale.
Access to Ready Talent
“The greatest challenge in RPA and AI is not the technology, it’s finding the talent,” said Frank Casale, Co-Founder, Digital Americas Pipeline Initiative and Founder of IRPA AI. “The primary objective of DAPI is to train local talent to address the growing global demand in the field. It is important for our members in the Americas that this talent hub be located in a similar time zone, have a sizable educated labor pool, be cost effective and committed to development of emerging technologies. Today, together with Ruta N, the leading business and innovation center, we are excited to announce the launch of DAPI in Medellín.”
Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation are two complementary trends that are rapidly transforming the productive fabric of the world. However, staffing skills is the No. 1 challenge for 54 percent of CIOs looking to adopt AI, according to Gartner, which has deemed 2018 as the year “AI Democratization” begins. Against this background, Medellín is preparing to be an important player in the development and implementation of these high in demand technologies.
DAPI is specifically focused on the development of RPA solutions using the most widely used and robust tools in today’s market, such as Blue Prism, UiPath, and Automation Anywhere, and on offering application development services focused on Artificial Intelligence.
Entering the Knowledge Economy
“Ruta N is excited to join forces with IRPA AI, the global network and go-to source for information and best practices around RPA and AI, in launching the DAPI AI center of excellence here in Medellín, leveraging the city’s innovative ecosystem, development communities, startups and companies that offer AI solutions,” said Alejandro Franco Restrepo, executive director of Ruta N.
“With the launch of the first AI center in the country, Colombia has now ventured into a new global knowledge economy that will allow the nation to be more competitive in technology. In addition to attracting more investment, it will promote research and development programs as well as facilitate the creation of quality jobs in science, technology and innovation in the coming years,” said Felipe Jaramillo, president of ProColombia.
“The city is committed to having Medellín become a player in the knowledge economy,” said Catalina Restrepo Carvajal, Director of the ACI Medellín (Agency for Cooperation and Investment of Medellín and the Metropolitan Area). “DAPI is helping transform the local labor dynamics and strengthen the city by developing businesses with a greater employment impact and the supply of new services. Being partners with IRPA-AI is a key factor in helping us achieve this goal.”
