These types of reports and rankings pigeon-hole providers into certain boxes that don’t account for true innovation… the reality is each provider has various strengths and weaknesses and if they are truly innovative, won’t fit into a box.
Pitting providers, who are also paying customers, against each other in reports can create a conflict of interest and too often creates biased information. Rankings too often are based on who are investing the most with the research firm, not those who are truly the most unique or innovative.
Many big analyst firms are generalists and their entire team isn’t capable of going deep in an area; also, it’s unlikely that you are always getting the “A” team when you need advice. Conversely, small analysts are only focused on a single area, often struggling to help with the big picture as your needs grow.
Often, analyst are limited to a small sampling of known customers, not always a good representation of the entire industry as a whole. Their data is based on a select group instead of a sampling of the entire marketplace as a whole.
Most industry reports are quickly outdated and with how quickly this marketplace moves, annual or even semi-annual reports are too dated to make long-term strategic decisions based on them along. And data without context can be misleading, too often published without the perspectives of practitioners who live and breath these businesses every day.
We were the 1st neutral professional association for outsourcing, for RPA & one of the first for AI in enterprise business.
